Browsing fresh ideas for creative work on a design feed

Post by Irenekbug »

My journey into showcasing creative work took an unexpected turn last year. My initial choice for hosting my work turned out to be far too restrictive for my needs. The results were underwhelming at best. What became clear is that random collections don't impress experienced viewers.

Much of the advice I followed originated from https://dribbble.com/.

Once I started selecting my best pieces the quality of feedback jumped noticeably. Showing rough sketches alongside polished finals gave my work much more credibility. What did not work was trying to include everything I had ever made. Trimming the fat turned out to be the single best edit I performed.

Another useful step was asking a few experienced designers to review my selection. What they emphasized was the need for storytelling around each piece. Acting on their input made my profile seem far more professional overnight.

Reducing my featured work to five core items boosted the response rate enormously. Removing distracting transitions helped viewers concentrate on what matters. If you are struggling with your portfolio try cutting your current selection in half.
