Simple tricks for getting noticed in a crowded space

I recently spent time exploring what really works for sharing design portfolios. My initial choice for hosting my work turned out to be far too restrictive for my needs. The results were underwhelming at best. I realized quickly that context and curation matter more than flashy layouts.

After shifting to a more focused approach my portfolio traffic tripled within weeks. Showing rough sketches alongside polished finals gave my work much more credibility. What did not work was trying to include everything I had ever made. Removing the weak ones was hard at first but it instantly improved the impression.

Getting an outside perspective from peers saved me from keeping mediocre work. They all agreed that showing real client projects with before-and-after shots mattered most. That feedback turned my portfolio from a gallery into a narrative.

Now my page contains just a handful of pieces yet every visit leads to a conversation. Ditching the complex animations made the content itself easier to evaluate. My recommendation to anyone starting out is begin with a brutal edit.
