The creative community versus other platforms for creatives

I decided to test a few methods for displaying design projects online. What I attempted initially was a generic gallery site that lacked proper focus. That approach barely got me any real engagement from designers. I realized quickly that context and curation matter more than flashy layouts.

I found a useful article on exactly this problem at https://dribbble.com/.

After shifting to a more focused approach my portfolio traffic tripled within weeks. I also learned to break down each project into the problem, my process, and the final result. What did not work was trying to include everything I had ever made. Removing the weak ones was hard at first but it instantly improved the impression.

I had a senior colleague scan my curated picks and she pointed out what to drop. Their advice pushed me to include case studies rather than just final images. Their critique helped me reframe the whole display as a problem-solving showcase.

The final setup shows only eight projects but each one tells a complete story. I stopped chasing fancy effects and focused instead on clarity. The quickest win I know is removing anything that does not excite you anymore.
