In what way does a design community boost your career?

I decided to test a few methods for displaying design projects online. The first platform I tried had a clunky interface that slowed everything down. The results were underwhelming at best. I discovered that thoughtful presentation trumps overdesigned visuals every time.

Much of the advice I followed originated from https://dribbble.com/.

When I narrowed down to only finished projects the response was night and day. I also learned to break down each project into the problem, my process, and the final result. A common mistake was keeping old student projects alongside professional work. Removing the weak ones was hard at first but it instantly improved the impression.

I had a senior colleague scan my curated picks and she pointed out what to drop. They all agreed that showing real client projects with before-and-after shots mattered most. Acting on their input made my profile seem far more professional overnight.

The final setup shows only eight projects but each one tells a complete story. I stopped chasing fancy effects and focused instead on clarity. My recommendation to anyone starting out is begin with a brutal edit.
